I, like most teachers, have a favorite part to my school day. Yes, it is dismissal. However, not for reasons that may seem obvious. I love dismissal because that's when I let my inner diva shine through. That's right, folks...its Third Grade Karaoke Time!
At the end of the day, to pack up I usually pick a 3 to 4 minute Kids Bop Song. I, of course, pick one that I know I can belt out, like "Girl on Fire" or "Domino". I encourage everyone to sing, but quite frankly, I don't care. This time isn't for them. Its for me, and oh sweet Lord, is it glorious! Sometimes, I even stand in the front of my room and make these ridiculous hand movements and exaggerated gestures. It's great.
At the end, if the applause isn't satisfactory, I say, "Oh come on!!!" and we all laugh and they clap more.
True Story. At 3:00, I really love my job.
